I last wrote about my friend who was in a serious car accident June 1st. The doctors said if she didn’t wake up after 2 weeks it could be many weeks or months, if at all.
During that time we had no idea what kind of condition she would be in when she woke up. So many people sent prayers to her while she was in her coma. We all waited with hopeful anticipation.
She woke-up from her coma shortly after the 4th of July.
Her recovery since she woke-up has been amazing. Each week that we’ve visited her, we’ve watched a miracle unfolding.
She reminds all of us what a precious Gift Life Is.
From first opening her eyes
we found the Gift of consciousness.
From moving her eyes and responding to simple questions
we saw the Gift of hearing and sight.
From her moving her left arm and leg
we delight in the Gift of movement and the nervous system working together.
From her sitting up
we are reminded of the Gift of belly and back muscles.
From saying her first words, then putting more words together in simple sentences,
we rejoice in the sound of her voice and the incredible Gift of language.
From her putting more thoughts together to ask questions and register our answers,
we understand the amazing Gift of conscious thought.
From her telling cute little jokes and her adorable smile,
we rejoice in her personality returning and the Gift of laughter.
From her singing happy birthday to her son,
we relish the Gift of music and the love between a mother and child.
From saying she wants to go home soon
we are reminded of what home means- the Gift of being together again with loved ones.
Life is a Precious Gift
The re-emergence of Kelly – literally coming back to life before our eyes- has been nothing short of miraculous.
We appreciate how delicate and amazing the human body is.
Her everyday triumphs right-size any concern, worry, or stress we have.
May Kelly’s daily awakening remind us all the sacred Now of Life.
Celebrate your precious Gift of Life by breathing in deeply, enjoy a walk, sing to your child.
Tell someone dear to you that you love them.
